Sports have as much of a psychological component as they do a physical one. Over the past few years, we have seen the media explode over mental health disorders within the sporting world. Athletes have begun to challenge the lingering stigma of mental health and the pathways of support. High profile athletes have been opening up about their struggles and have pointed out the lack of provision for diagnosis and treatment. The stigma of perceived “weakness” has lead to underreporting due to lack of understanding between how symptoms effect high performance athletes versus those of the general population. This presents unique challenges to identifying mental illness. Because our founder understands these issues first hand, he recognizes the need to provide psychiatric medication treatment and psychotherapeutic referrals to foster mental health and well-being in a safe and welcoming environment to retired and active amateur, semi-professional, professional, Olympic, NCAA, and elite 17 and up AAU athletes. We also provide psychiatric services to coaches, trainers, and performance support staff. This includes cheerleading as well as competitive and performance dance.

Medications can play a role improving most mental health conditions. Some patients are treated with medication alone, while others are treated with psychotherapy or other treatment modalities. But overall, research shows that the most effective treatment for mental health conditions involves a combination of medications and psychotherapy. And some conditions require the use of multiple medications. We want to be as helpful as possible in reducing or eliminating symptoms related depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, PTSD, psychosis, ADHD and OCD.
